The Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 2019
The Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 2019
The Arunachal Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 2019, establishes the legal framework for creating and running municipal corporations in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, starting with Itanagar. It applies to all urban areas within the state, excluding military cantonments, and affects residents, local businesses, and municipal officials. This law matters because it sets the rules for local democracy, defining how city council members are elected, how municipal boundaries are set, and how local governments manage public resources. By organizing urban governance, the act ensures that growing cities have the structured administration needed to handle public services, sanitation, and local development.
