Academic Senate

Statutory text
- (1) The Academic Senate of the University shall consist of the following members:
- (a) All the members of the Executive Council (ex-officio);
- (b) All the Deans of the Faculties / Schools (ex-officio);
- (c) All Principals of the University Colleges (ex-officio);
- (d) All the members of the Planning and Monitoring Board (ex-officio);
- (e) Three
- (3) Professors / Senior Teachers from the University Colleges, by rotation (to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor);
- (f) Four
- (4) academicians from outside the University of whom at least one shall belong to the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Backward Classes, and one shall be a woman (to be nominated by the Government);
- (g) Three
- (3) persons of eminence representing professional fields like medicine, engineering, business, law, banking, etc. (to be nominated by the Government);
- (h) One person belonging to the non-teaching staff employed in the University (to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor);
- (i) Three
- (h) One person belonging to the non-teaching staff employed in the University (to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor);
- (3) students, selected on merit basis, of whom one shall be from under-graduate classes, one from postgraduate classes, and one from among Ph.D. scholars; (to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor);
- (j) One Librarian of the University College (to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor);
- (k) One Physical Director of the University College (to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor);
- (l) Two senior scientists / fellows from reputed Research Laboratories or Institutions (to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor);
- (m) One member each of the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council representing constituencies in the jurisdiction of the University (to be nominated by the Government).
- (2) The Academic Senate shall be re-constituted every three years at or about the same time as the Executive Council. The ex-officio members of the Academic Senate shall, however, continue to hold office till the date of re-constitution.
- (3) The Academic Senate shall meet at least twice in an academic year, and the quorum for the meetings of the Academic Senate shall be one third of the total membership of the body or twelve (12), whichever is less.
