Appointment of places as burial or burning-grounds.
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands Municipal Regulation 1994(1) A Municipality shall with the previous approval of the Senior Medical Officer, by public notice, appoint places which shall be used as burial or burning-grounds, and shall also define the limits of such places. (2) No burial or burning-ground, whether public or private, shall be made or formed in a municipal area or within one mile thereof without the permission in writing of the Municipality. (3) No person shall, without the permission of the Municipality, bury or burn, or cause or permit to be buried or burnt, any corpse at any place in the municipal area except at a place appointed by the Municipality as a burial or burning ground. (4) Whoever contravenes the provisions of sub-section (2) or sub-section (3), shall be punishable with fine which may extend to Rs. 50.
