Penalty for contravening provision of the Act

(1) Any person contravening any provision of this Act shall be liable to pay a penalty not exceeding five hundred rupees by an order passed by the Subdivisional Officer of the locality: provided that the Subdivisional Officer, before passing an order levying penalty, shall give to the person concerned a reasonable opportunity of being heard. (2) An appeal against any order passed under sub-section (1) shall lie, if filed within thirty days from the date of the order, to the Collector whose decision thereon shall be final.
