PENALTY FOR FAILING TO REGISTER A MARRIAGE:- Any Registrar who fails to register a marriage pursuant to section 5 or section 6 shall, on conviction, be punished with simple imprisonment for a terms which may extend to three months or fine which may extend to five hundred rupees or with both.
