Water supply system 1. The Board shall provide or arrange for the provision of a sufficient supply of drinking water for consumption by the inhabitants of the Chennai Metropolitan Area. 2. The Board shall, as far as may be practicable, make adequate provision for securing that the water supplied for drinking purposes is at all times wholesome and fit for human consumption. 3. The Board may also provide or arrange for the provision of a sufficient supply of water for other domestic or non-domestic purposes except irrigation: Provided that the water supplied under this sub-section may different in quality to water supplied for drinking purposes. 4.
