Compensation for livestock and birds destroyed

Compensation may be paid to the owner of [livestock or birds] if destroyed under section 17, and such compensation shall be determined in accordance with rules to be made in this behalf by the [Central Government]: Provided that—

1. (i) no compensation shall be paid to any person convicted of any offence punishable under this Act committed in respect of such [livestock or bird];
2. (ii) no compensation shall be paid in respect of any [livestock or bird] which, when it was brought into the [Union territory of Chandigarh] was affected with the disease on account of which it was destroyed.
