The Mizoram Urban and Regional Development Act, 2025
The Mizoram Urban and Regional Development Act, 2025
The Mizoram Urban and Regional Development Act, 2025, establishes a comprehensive legal framework for the planned growth and infrastructure management of urban and regional areas across Mizoram. It empowers the state government to designate specific planning regions, form planning committees, and mandate the creation of development plans, town planning schemes, and local area plans. The Act regulates land use, construction activities, and environmental standards to ensure orderly development. It applies to all individuals and entities undertaking development projects. For ordinary citizens, this law is significant as it dictates the rules for building construction, provides mechanisms for grievance redressal, and outlines the consequences for unauthorized development.
