Bare Act

The Mizo District (Land and Revenue) Act, 1956

General195624 sections

This law governs land and revenue matters specifically within the Station areas of Mizoram, excluding certain tribal autonomous regions. It establishes rules for how land is used, recorded, and transferred, distinguishing between temporary pass-holders who only have user rights and settlement-holders who hold heritable and transferable rights subject to paying taxes. The Act prevents anyone from claiming ownership of land occupied before its enactment unless it was officially registered. It also gives the Administrator the power to manage and dispose of vacant land, ensuring clear legal boundaries for land ownership and usage in the territory.
