Objects of the University

The objects of the University shall be as follows, namely:- (1) To make arrangements for providing education from pre-primary level to post-doctoral level in various branches of study related to rural development, with special emphasis on the integrated development of the individual; (2) To integrate all aspects of education and training with productive and creative activities at all stages of education, across the disciplines of science, technology, humanities and social sciences in a horizontal manner and in a vertical manner for all stages from primary to higher education; (3) To prepare diverse courses with rural orientation at various levels, especially at the tertiary level around emerging rural occupations, and to give due recognition and encouragement to field-work based courses; (4) To assist in advancing research, especially community-based and clinical research; (5) To undertake extension work with a view to reaching the knowledge of new technologies to the villages and making scientific and technological institutions aware of the needs of the villages; (6) To exchange ideas and experiences regarding new techniques and to act as a medium between various agencies, organizations or individuals interested in rural development work; (7) To establish, maintain, integrate and reorganize institutions/colleges in rural areas and provide them with a combined form infused with rural orientation, that is to say, to connect rural development programs from primary and higher levels up to diploma and degree levels; (8) To develop selected colleges/institutions as autonomous colleges/institutions in order to strengthen them with education programs related to the needs of rural development; (9) To create, develop and strengthen training facilities for teachers engaged in the work of village-oriented education; (10) To provide consultancy services for preparing micro-level plans, monitoring them and for their evaluation; (11) To perform such other functions as the University may specify from time to time, keeping in view the objects of the University.
