Definitions

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "Vidya Parishad" means the Academic Council of the University; (b) "Affiliated College/Institution" means the institution which has been granted privileges of the University in accordance with the provisions of this Act or Statutes; (c) "Autonomous College/Institution" means the educational institution which has been declared by the Board as an Autonomous College/Institution in accordance with the provisions of this Act; (d) "Board" means the Board of Studies of the University; (e) "Board of Studies" means the Management Board of the University; (f) "College/Institution" means the institution maintained by the provisions of this Act or under them or which has been granted privileges of the University; (g) "Employee" means any person appointed by the University and includes the University teachers and other staff; (h) "Statutes", "Ordinances" and "Regulations" mean respectively the Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations of the University for the time being in force; (i) "Scheduled Castes" means the Scheduled Castes specified in relation to the State of Madhya Pradesh under Article 341 of the Constitution of India; (j) "Scheduled Tribes" means the Scheduled Tribes specified in relation to this State under Article 342 of the Constitution of India; (k) "Student of the University" means the person who has been enrolled in the University for completing a course for a degree, diploma or other specific academic recognition properly instituted in the University; (l) "Teacher of the University" means Professor, Reader, Assistant Professor, Lecturer and such other persons who, with the approval of the Vidya Parishad, are appointed in the University or in any college or institution, which is maintained or recognized by the University, for providing teaching or doing research work; (m) "University" means the University which is deemed to have been established under this Act for the purpose of providing education related to rural development from primary level to post-doctoral level.
