Definitions

Definitions. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,—

1. (a) "water source" includes river, stream, nallah, spring, lake, tank, well, tubewell, ground water and such other sources of water as the State Government may, by notification, specify;
2. (b) "water scarcity area" means an area declared as such under Section 3;
3. (c) "competent authority" means an officer or an authority appointed as such by the State Government under Section 7;
4. (d) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
