Power of Council to prohibit entry or to direct removal from State Medical Register

Power of Council to prohibit entry or to direct removal from State Medical Register. The council may, upon reference from the registrar or otherwise prohibit the entry in, or order the removal from, the State Medical Register of the name of any person, -

1. (a) Who has been sentenced by a criminal court to imprisonment for an offence indicating in the opinion of the council such a defect in character as would render the enrollment or continuance of his name in the State Medical Register undesirable; or
2. (b) Whom the council after enquiry at which opportunity has been given to him to be heard in person and which may at the discretion of council be held in camera, finds guilty of infamous conduct in any profession respect by a majority of two–thirds of the members of the council present and voting at the meeting but such number shall not be less than five.
