Section Schedule III

1. Nilams: (i) Land converted into nilam by tenant's labour (not items v, vi, vii) - 1/8th of gross paddy produce; (ii) Other nilam (not items v, vi, vii) - 1/4th of gross paddy produce; (iii) Kole land - 1/6th of gross paddy produce; (iv) Land not being Karinilam cultivated on the Kaipad system - 1/6th of gross paddy produce (Cannanore, Ernakulam, Alleppey and Kottayam; no such land in other districts); (v) Karinilam: (a) converted into wet by tenant's labour - 1/9th of gross paddy produce (Kottayam, Alleppey and Ernakulam; no such land in other districts), (b) Other Karinilam - 1/5th of gross paddy produce (Kottayam, Alleppey and Ernakulam; no such land in other districts); (vi) Nilam in North and South Wynaad: (a) Converted by tenant's labour - 1/20th of gross paddy produce, (b) Other nilam - 1/12th of gross paddy produce; (vii) Nilam in Devicolam, Peermade, Udumbanchola and Attappady valley: (a) Converted by tenant's labour - 1/16th of gross paddy produce, (b) Other wet land - 1/8th of gross paddy produce; (viii) Nilam where fishing is carried on: Aggregate of rent fixed as for nilam and 1/8th of gross annual income from fishing; (ix) Nilam not used for paddy - Rent that would have been payable for paddy. 2. Garden: (i) Cocoanut trees (landlord bound for compensation) - 1/10th of gross cocoanut produce; (ii) Cocoanut trees (landlord not bound) - 1/3rd of gross cocoanut produce; (iii) Arecanut trees (landlord bound) - 1/10th of gross arecanut produce; (iv) Arecanut trees (landlord not bound) - 1/4th of gross arecanut produce; (v) Pepper-vines (landlord bound) - 1/8th of gross pepper produce; (vi) Pepper-vines (landlord not bound) - 1/4th of gross pepper produce. 3. Dry land: (a) Cultivated with groundnut or other notified crops - 1/8th of gross produce; (b) In other cases - Rs. 4 per acre. 4. Palliyal land - 1/8th of gross produce of crop or Rs. 4 per acre, whichever is higher. 5. Land under Punam or Kumri cultivation - Rs. 3 per acre. 6. Land under sugarcane - 1/4th of gross sugarcane produce. 7. Other land - Contract rent.
