Latrines and urinals.
The Kerala Beedi and Cigar Industrial Premises (Regulation of Conditions of Work) Act, 1961(1) In every beedi and cigar industrial premises sufficient latrine and urinal accommodation of prescribed types shall be provided conveniently situated and accessible to employees at all times while they are in the beedi and cigar industrial premises: Provided that it shall not be necessary to provide for separate urinals in the beedi and cigar industrial premises where less than fifty persons are employed or where the latrines are connected to any waterborne sewage system. (2) The Government may prescribe the number of latrines and urinals to be provided in any beedi and cigar industrial premises in proportion to the number of male and female employees ordinarily employed therein and provide for such further matters in respect of sanitation in the beedi and cigar industrial premises including the obligation of employees in this regard, as they consider necessary in the interests of the health of the employees employed therein.
