Maintenance of grant

Maintenance of grant - Subject to the availability of funds, a recognised public library may be paid by the Government from the library fund a maintenance grant at the rate specified below:-

Provided that out ofgrant so sanctioned, fifty per cent, amount of grant shall be spent for the purchases ofbooks. Explanation -I - Where the circulating library lorms paft of a library belonging to "A" or "B" Class Public Library, the grant payable to such circulating Iibrary shalt be in addition to the grant admissible to such 'A' or 'B' Class Public Library. Explanation 11, - For the purpose of 'admissible expenditure'for assessment of grants, the expenditure on the following items shall be taken into consideration, namely :-

1. (i) purchase ofbooks excluding commission;
2. (ii) subscription of magazine, periodicals and news papers;
3. (iii) building and fumiture; and
