Definitions

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "Academic Staff" means such categories of staff as are designated by the Statutes to be the academic staff of the University; (b) ; (c) "Centre" means the unit established or constituted by the University for making arrangements for research or both within the territorial jurisdiction of National Capital Territory; (d) "Chancellor" means the Chancellor of the University; (e) "Vice Chancellor" means the Vice Chancellor of the University; (f) "Pro-Vice Chancellor" means the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University; (g) "Court" means the Court of the University; (h) "Delhi" means the National Capital Territory of Delhi; (i) "Department" means an Academic Department within a Faculty; (j) "Faculty" means a faculty of studies of the University; (k) "Government" means the Lieutenant Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi appointed by the President under article 239 and designated as such under article 239AA of the Constitution; (l) "Hostel" means a unit of residence or of corporate life for the students of the University; (m) "Finance Committee" means Finance Committee of the University; (n) ; (o) "Institution" means any institution managed or maintained by the University; (p) "Misconduct" means a misconduct prescribed by the Statutes and the Ordinances; (q) "Notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette; (r) "Proctor" means the Proctor of the University; (s) "Prescribed" means prescribed by the Statutes or Ordinances or Regulations made under this Act; (t) "Registrar" means the Registrar of the University; (u) "Teachers" means professors, associate professors, assistant professors and such other persons as may be appointed for imparting instruction or conducting research in the University, or in any Institution/centre maintained by the University and are designated as teachers by the Statutes; (v) "University" means the Netaji Subhas University of Technology as incorporated under this Act.
