Punishment for falsification of bid-sheet and manipulation of transit passes

Whoever, being an officer.- (i) manipulates bid-sheets in relation to auction of forest produce, or (ii) manipulates issue of fictitious transit passes with a view to give benefit to any person or for causing wrongful loss to the Government department, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description which may extend to three years or with fine or with both. After hearing the persons if present on date fixed for that purpose and after making any further enquiry in the matter which he may think proper, the Collector may- (a) take over the management of the land, if he finds any illegal diversion or illegal colonization thereon: (b) drop the proceedings, if he is satisfied that the land is not subjected to illegal diversion or illegal colonization.
