Short title, extent, application and commencement

(1) This Act may be called the Gudalur Janmam Estates (Abolition and Conversion into Ryotwari) Act, 1969. (2) It extends to the Gudalur Taluk of the Nilgiris district. (3) It applies to all janmam estates. (4) It shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notification, appoint. (5) The Settlement Officer shall, immediately after the date of the publication of the notification under sub-section (4), publish in the District Gazette, a copy of the notification under sub-section (4) and shall also cause to be published in a conspicuous place in the village in which the janmam estate is situated a copy of the notification under sub-section (4) together with such particulars as may be prescribed.
