Grant of driver's licence

(1) It shall be lawful for the Deputy Commissioner to grant a licence to act as driver of any hackney carriage to any applicant whom he may consider fit. (2) Every such licence shall contain- the number of the licence, the name, place of abode and age of the person to whom such licence is granted, the description of carriage and animals, if any, to be used therewith, and the date on which the licence was granted, and shall bear the signature of the Deputy Commissioner. (3) Such licence shall be in force for the year of registration and the fee payable therefor shall be one rupee and fifty paise unless the licence relates solely to-(i) a cycle-rickshaw, in which case the fee shall be thirty paise; and (ii) any other carriage of the description specified in clauses (f) and (g) of section 9, in which case the fee shall be forty paise.
