Penalties.

Save as otherwise provided in this Chapter, whoever being an employer or manager of an establishment contravenes any of the provisions of this Act or rules made thereunder shall-(a) on first conviction, be punished with a fine which shall not be less than five hundred rupees and may extend to one thousand rupees; and (b) for second and subsequent contravention of the same provision of this Act or Rules made thereunder shall be punishable with a fine which shall not be less than one thousand rupees and may extend to five thousand rupees; (c) in default of such payment of fine, the employers shall be liable to undergo simple imprisonment for six months.
