Bar to erection of buildings in contravention of building rules.
The Capital of Punjab (Development and Regulation) Act, 1952(1) No person shall erect or occupy any building at Chandigarh in contravention of any building rules made under sub-section (2). (2) The Central Government may by notification in the Official Gazette, make rules to regulate the erection of buildings and such rules may provide for all or any of the following matters, namely:— (a) the materials to be used for external and partition walls, roofs, floors, staircases, lifts, fire-places and any other part of any building; (b) the location of any building which is intended to be used for residential or commercial or industrial or other purposes; (c) the ventilation in, or the space about any building or part thereof to secure circulation of air or for the convenience of such building; (d) the number of storeys and the height of any building; (e) the regulation of the erection of any building or any part thereof including the procedure for its completion and further erection.
