Appointment of Competent Authority

The Government may, by notification- (i) appoint so many officers of the Mining & Geology Department as may be required, to be the Competent Authorities ; and (ii) define the local limits within which the Competent Authorities shall exercise their jurisdiction ; for the purposes of this Act.
