Compounding of offence

Any offence punishable under this Act may, either before or after the institution of the prosecution be compounded by the Competent Authority on payment of such sum as the Authority may determine and on payment thereof- (a) no further proceedings shall be commenced against such person or property, (b) if such proceedings have already been commenced, such proceedings shall have to be further proceeded with; (c) the accused person if in custody, shall be discharged and if any property had been seized, such property shall be released if it is not to be so retained, the law further provides.
