Preamble

The Nagaland Farmer's Participation in Management of irrigation system Act, 2013 (Act No.7 of 2014) Received the assent of the Governor ofNagaland on 10.5.2014 and published in the Nagaland Gazette extra-Ordinary dated 11" June 2014. An Act to provide for farmers participation in the management of irrigation systems and for matters connected herewith or incidental thereto. WhereasNagaland is essentially an agricultural State whose economy largely depends on agricultural crop productivity in which irrigation plays the vital role for optimum yield; And whereas it is imperative to allow farmers to play an important role in various aspect of irrigation system for effective and reliable supply and distribution of water: Be it enacted by theNagaland State Legislative Assembly in the sixty fourth year of the republic of India as follows:-

Chapter 1 PRELIMINARY 1. Short title extent and commencement: @ This Act may be called the Nagaland Fanners Participation in Management of Irrigation System Act 2013. (in) It extends to the whole of the state ofNagaland.

1. (ii) It shall come into force on such date as the government may by notification in the Nagaland Gazette , appoint and may appoint different dates for different areas and for different provisions.
