Acquisition of land

19. (1) If at any time, on the application of the Highway Authority, the State Government is satisfied that any land required for the purpose of a highway should be compulsorily acquired, it shall be acquired under and in accordance with the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (I of 1894), as amended from time to time. (2) In case of urgency, whenever it appears to the State Government that the land is required for temporary occupation by the Highway Authority, it may direct the Collector to procure the occupation and use of the same for the Highway Authority as per provisions contained on section 35, 36 and 37 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (I of 1894).
