11. Insertion of new section 20A.
The Travancore-Cochin Prohibition (Amendment) Act, 1960After section 20 of the principal Act, the following section shall be inserted in Chapter II namely: — "20A. Enhanced Jurisdiction of Magistrates and special Magistrates — Notwithstanding anything contained in section 32 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (Central Act 5 of 1898), it shall be lawful for the Magistrates specific ( in column (1) of the Table below to exercise the power specified in the corresponding entry in column (2) thereof, in respect of offences punishable under this Act. TABLE (1) (2) Magistrates of the first class or Special Magistrates appointed under section 14 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (Central Act 5 of 1898), upon whom the powers conferred by section 32 of the said Code on a Magistrate of the first class have been conferred. Fine exceeding two thousand rupees but not exceeding five thousand rupees Magistrates of the second class or Special Magistrates appointed u nder section 14 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898 (Central Act 5 of 1898) upon whom the powers conferred by section 32 of the said Code on a Magistrate of the second class have been con ferred. Imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year; fine not exceeding one thousand rupees
