Assessment by whom to be fixed.—

1. (1) The assessment of the amount to be paid as land revenue on all lands liable to the same shall be fixed by the Settlement Officer appointed under Chapter X or by the Deputy Commissioner, as the case may be, in accordance with the provisions of this Act and the rules made thereunder.
2. (2) The assessment so fixed shall be subject to the approval of the State Government.
