The Jammu and Kashmir Nurses', Midwives' and Health Visitors' Registration Act, 1956
The Jammu and Kashmir Nurses', Midwives' and Health Visitors' Registration Act, 1956
This Act establishes the Jammu and Kashmir Nurses', Midwives' and Health Visitors' Council to regulate the nursing and midwifery profession in the region. It mandates the creation and maintenance of an official register of qualified nurses, midwives, and health visitors. The Act sets standards for training institutions, oversees professional conduct, and provides a legal framework for disciplinary actions, including the removal of names from the register for misconduct. For the ordinary citizen, this law ensures that healthcare providers in these categories are properly trained, qualified, and accountable, thereby safeguarding public health and professional integrity within the medical system.
