Chairperson
The IIIT (Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology) - Delhi Act, 2007(1) The Chairperson of the Board of Governors shall be an eminent technocrat, industrialist or academician or a professional to be nominated by the Government. (2) The Chairperson shall preside over the meetings of the Board of Governors and the General Council. (3) The Chairperson shall be entitled to exercise such other powers and perform such other functions as may be conferred or imposed upon him by this Act or the Statutes. (1) Save as otherwise provided in this Section: (a) the term of office of the Chairman or any other member of the Board of Governors shall be three years from the date of his nomination, extendable by two years. (b) the term of office of an ex-officio member shall continue so long as he holds the office by virtue of which he is a member. (c) the term of office of a member nominated to fill a casual vacancy shall continue for the remainder of the term of the member in whose place he has been nominated. (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in this section, an out-going member shall, continue in office until another person is nominated as a member in his place. (3) The members of the Board of Governors shall be entitled to such allowances, if any, from the Institute as may be provided for in the Statutes but no member other than the Director and nominees of the Director shall be entitled to any salary by reason of this sub-section.
