Whoever makes a false Statement or a statement which is misleading ert immaterial particulars to a police officer for the purpose of obtaining any benefit shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term, which may extend to six months or with a fine, not exceeding rupees ten thousand or with both.
