Penalty for failure to appoint Fire Safety Officer

40. If any owner or occupier or an association of such owners and occupiers of a building or premises fails to appoint Fire Safety Officer under section 38 within thirty days of the receipt of a notice given on this behalf by the Director or his Nominated Authority, may be punished with fine which shall not be less than twenty thousand rupees and may extend up to one lakh rupees.
