The Chancellor : (1) The Chancellor shall be appointed by the

Sponsoring Body for a period of five years from the date on which he enters upon his office and shall be eligible for re-appointment;

Provided that a Chancellor shall notwithstanding the expiration of his term continue to hold office until his successor enters upon the office.

1. (2) Any vacancy in the office of Chancellor shall be filled within six months from the date of such vacancy.
2. (3) The Chancellor shall, by virtue of his office, be the head of the University.
3. (4) The Chancellor shall, if present, preside at the meetings of the Board of management and at the convocation of the University for conferring degrees, diplomas or other academic distinctions.
4. (5) The Chancellor shall have the following powers, namely:-
   • (a) to call for any information or record in connection with the affairs of the University;
   • (b) to appoint the Vice-Chancellor;
   • (c) to remove the Vice-Chancellor;
   • (d) such other powers as may be prescribed by the Statutes or Governing Body.
   • (e) In absence of the Vice-Chancellor due to any reason, the Chancellor can appoint any suitable person to perform all the function of the Vice-Chancellor.
   • (f) The office of the Chancellor may be located anywhere in
