Amendment of section 12

In section 12 of the principal Act, in sub-section (1), for item (x), the following items shall be substituted, namely:-

1. (xi) to establish, equip and maintain the University libraries, laboratories, workshops, museums and the like;
2. (xii) to provide for research and advancement and dissemination of knowledge;
3. (xiii) to provide for allowances and daily allowances, to institute scholarships, bursaries, medals and prizes and to organise exhibitions;
4. (xiv) to control and manage all colleges and hostels in the University area in the manner prescribed by the Statutes;
5. (xv) the Executive Council shall exercise all the powers of the University not otherwise provided for and all powers requisite to give effect to the provisions of the Act.".

1. (1) The Government shall have the right to cause an inspection to be made by such person or persons as they may direct, of the University, its buildings, laboratories, libraries, museums, workshops and equipment and of any institutions maintained by the University and also to cause an enquiry to be made into the teaching and other work conducted by or in the University in respect of any matter connected with the University.
2. (2) The Government shall in every case give notice to the University of its intention to cause such inspection or inquiry to be made and the University shall be entitled to be represented thereat.".
