The Andhra Pradesh Marine Fishing (Regulation) Act, 1995
The Andhra Pradesh Marine Fishing (Regulation) Act, 1995 regulates marine fishing activities along the coastal waters of Andhra Pradesh to protect marine life and ensure sustainable fishing practices. It applies to boat owners, fishermen, and commercial fishing operators within the state's jurisdiction. The law mandates the compulsory licensing and registration of all fishing vessels, while empowering authorized officers to restrict fishing in specified areas, inspect vessels, and seize illegal catches. By establishing strict penalties and adjudication procedures for violations, the Act prevents overfishing, preserves coastal ecosystems, and safeguards the traditional livelihoods of local fishing communities.
