Bare Act
The Uttarakhand Compulsory Registration of Marriage Act, 2010
Civil201023 sections
This Act requires all marriages solemnized in Uttarakhand to be registered within ninety days of the ceremony, regardless of caste, religion, or custom. It applies to every marriage, including remarriages, and assigns the responsibility to the husband, though the wife can register if the husband is a minor, disabled, or serving in the armed forces. The parties must submit a signed memorandum and fee to the local registrar. Once registered, a certificate is issued. The law also mandates police notification if either party is a minor, ensuring compliance with child marriage laws and providing legal proof of the union.
