Power of the Market Committee to impose penalties

Statutory text
(1) A Market Committee shall have the power, by order, to impose the penalties of censure and fine on any market functionary or agriculturist or purchaser for the contravention of any bye-law, after giving the person concerned a reasonable opportunity of being heard : Provided that the Market Committee shall not be competent to impose fine exceeding twenty-five rupees. (2) An appeal against an order under sub-section (1) shall lie to the Director, within such time and in such manner as may be prescribed.
