Powers and functions of Board
The Mental Healthcare Act, 2017(a) to register, supervise, review, alter, modify, revoke, cancel and register advance directives; (b) to receive applications for and appoint nominated representatives; (c) to receive applications from persons with mental illness or their nominated representatives or any other interested person in respect of matters under this Act; (d) to adjudicate complaints regarding deficiencies in care and services; (e) to receive and process applications for admission, treatment, supported admission, discharge and leave of absence of persons with mental illness in accordance with the provisions of this Act; (f) to ensure that mental health establishments function in accordance with the provisions of this Act; (g) to conduct inspections of mental health establishments; (h) to advise the State Government on any matter relating to mental healthcare and services in the State; and (i) such other powers and functions as may be prescribed. (2) The Board shall carry out its functions in such manner as may be prescribed.
