Penalty for counterfeiting marks

Whoever, with intent to cause damage or injury to the public or to any person, or to cause wrongful gains as defined in the Indian Penal Code-

1. (b) unlawfully affixes to any timber or standing tree a mark used by Forest Officers; or
2. (c) alters, declares or obliterates any such mark placed on any timber or standing tree by or under the authority of a Forest Officer;
3. (d) (* *) shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.
