Pawnbrokers to exhibit their names over shops
The Tamil Nadu Pawn Brokers Act, 1943Every pawnbroker shall- (a) always keep exhibited in large characters over the outer door of his shop or place of business his name with the word pawnbroker, in the chief language of the locality; and (b) always keep placed in a conspicuous part of his shop or place of business so as to be legible to all persons resorting thereto the information required to be printed on pawn-tickets by rules made under this Act, in the chief language of the locality. [The amendment made by this section has already been incorporated in the principal Act, namely, the Tamil Nadu Debt Relief Act, 1980 (Tamil Nadu Act 13 of 1980).] (1) Section 7 of the principal Act shall be renumbered as sub-section (1) of that section and in sub-section (1) as so renumbered, after the words "in the prescribed form", the words "which shall be in English and in such language of the locality as may be prescribed" shall be inserted; (2) after sub-section (1) as so renumbered, the following sub-section shall be added, namely :-- "(2) Every pawnbroker shall pay to the pawner the entire amount of the principal of the loan mentioned in the pawn-ticket and no amount shall be deducted from the loan towards future interest or on any other account whatsoever.". (1) Section 7 of the principal Act shall be renumbered as sub-section (1) of that seotion and in sub-section (1) as so renumbered, after the words " in the presaribed form ", the words " whioh shall be in English and in such language of the locality as may be prescribed" shall be inserted; (2) after sub-section (1) as so lenumbered, the following sub-scction shall be added, namely :-- "(2) Every pawnbroker shall pay to the pawner the entile amount of the principal of the loan mentioned in the pawn-ticket and no amount shall be deductd from the loan towards future interest or on any other account whatsoever.".
