Obligation to furnish information

(1) Any person whose rights or interest are required to be entered in the record of tenancy rights under this Act shall be bound, on the requisition of the record officer, to furnish or produce within such time as may be specified in such requisition or within such further time as the record officer may allow in this behalf, all such information or documents needed for the preparation or maintenance of the record of tenancy rights. (2) Any person to whom a requisition is made under sub-section (1) shall be deemed to be legally bound to furnish the information or produce the document within the meaning of section 176 of the Indian Penal Code (Central Act XLV of 1860).
