Functions of Local Authorities

The local Authorities shall: -

1. (a) Ensure that its staff officials members are trained in Disaster Management;
2. (b) Ensure that all the buildings within its jurisdiction follow the earthquake resistant design;
3. (c) Ensure the upkeep of all its relevant resource for its use;
4. (d) Carry out relief operations in the affected area subject to directions of the District Collector/ State Government;
5. (e) Carry out reconstruction and rehabilitation activities in accordance with the guidelines;
6. (f) Constitute and maintain Disaster Management Committee and Disaster Management Teams;
7. (g) Prepare Disaster Management plan in accordance with guidelines, update and revise it;
8. (h) Implement the plans in close coordination with the State Government and the District Collector;
