Definitions
The Rajasthan Ayurved University Act, 2002In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "Affiliated" means affiliated under section 6 or 35; (b) "Approved Institution" means an institution approved under section 6 or 38; (c) "Authority" means an authority of the University as specified by or under this Act; (d) "Institution" means an educational institution engaged in providing education, teaching and training and in research and development in the Indian System of Medicine; (e) "Indian System of Medicine" means the Ashtang Ayurveda system of medicine, including Homoeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy, Siddha and Yoga systems, whether supplemented by such modern advancements as are consistent with the fundamental principles of the Indian System of Medicine and as may be determined by the University from time to time; (f) "College" means a college which provides for such courses of study as result in a diploma or degree; (g) "Faculty" means the faculty of Ayurveda, Unani, Naturopathy, Homoeopathy, Siddha and Yoga constituted under this Act; (h) "Hostel" means a unit of residence for students maintained by the University, any affiliated college or any recognised or approved institution; (i) "Principal" means the chief executive officer of a college or a person duly appointed to act as such; (j) "Recognised Institution" means any institution recognised under section 6 or 37; (k) "Statutes", "Ordinances" and "Rules" mean respectively the Statutes, Ordinances and Rules made by the University under this Act; (l) "Teacher" means a Professor, Reader, Lecturer and such other person imparting education in the University, any affiliated college, recognised institution or approved institution as may be declared by the Statutes to be a teacher; (m) "Teacher of the University" means a person appointed or recognised by the University for the purpose of imparting education on its behalf; (n) "University" means the Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurved University, Jodhpur established under this Act; (o) "University Centre" means such a centre where research is carried out or post-graduate studies are undertaken as may be determined for that purpose by the Statutes or Ordinances; (p) "University-college" means a college which the University may establish or maintain under this Act or a college transferred to the University and maintained by it; and (q) "University-department" means any post-graduate or research institution or department maintained by the University as such.
