Inspection and Inquiry

(1) The Chancellor shall have the right to cause an inspection to be made by such person or persons as he may direct, of the University, its buildings, laboratories, libraries, museums, workshops and equipment, or of any college, institution or hostel maintained by the University, or of the teaching and other work conducted or performed by the University, or of the conduct of any examination held by the University. (2) The Chancellor shall also have the right to cause an inquiry to be made by such person or persons as he may direct in respect of any matter connected with the University. (3) In every case, the Chancellor shall give notice to the University of his intention to cause an inspection or inquiry to be made and the University shall be entitled to be represented in such inspection or inquiry. (4) The Chancellor shall inform the University about his views with regard to the results of such inquiry or inspection and, after ascertaining the opinion of the University thereon, may advise the University about the action to be taken and may fix a time limit for such action. (5) The University shall report to the Chancellor regarding the action taken or proposed to be taken on the advice given by the Chancellor within the time limit so fixed. (6) If the University does not take action within the time limit so fixed or if, in the opinion of the Chancellor, the action taken by the University is not satisfactory, the Chancellor, after considering any explanation given or representation made by the University, may issue such direction as he may deem fit and the University shall comply with such direction. (7) If the University does not, within the time limit as may be fixed by the Chancellor in this behalf, comply with the direction issued according to sub-section (6), the Chancellor shall have the power to appoint any person or body to implement such direction at his discretion and to pass such orders as may be necessary for its expenses.
