Short title, extent and commencement

(1) This Act may be called the Puducherry Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, 1968. (2) It extends to the whole of the Union territory of Puducherry. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette appoint. This is a title clause and defines the jurisdiction of the Act. The Government is empowered to fix the date of enforcement of the Act.
