Power to write off irrecoverable taxes etc.

The municipal council may write off any tax, fee or other amount whatsoever due to it, whether under a contract or otherwise, or any sum payable in connection therewith, if in its opinion, such tax, fee amount or sum is irrecoverable:

Provided that the municipal council shall not without obtaining the previous sanction in writing of the prescribed authority, write off any such tax, fee, amount or sum if the tax, fee, amount or sum exceeds such amount or sum as may be prescribed.
