The Mizoram Salaries and Allowances of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker (Amendment) Act, 1991

This Act increases the salaries and allowances for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Mizoram's Legislative Assembly. Specifically, the basic salaries are raised from 2,500 to 2,750 rupees per month for the Speaker and from 2,000 to 2,250 rupees per month for the Deputy Speaker. Additional allowances for both positions are significantly increased, including sumptuary allowances from 1,250 to 2,750 rupees per month and entertainment allowances from 700 to 1,000 rupees per month. The maximum rental charge permitted for housing has also increased to 6,000 rupees per month. Additionally, the Act grants both officials free first-class train travel up to 20,000 kilometers per five-year term or air travel twice within India, including family members.
