This Act governs the salary, allowances, and official perks provided to the Leader of the Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. It applies specifically to the individual holding the position of opposition leader in the state legislature. The law entitles the leader to a fixed monthly salary, sumptuary and constituency allowances, daily allowances, a rent-free furnished official residence in Bhopal with maintenance, a state-provided motor vehicle with two chauffeurs and fuel, and personal secretarial staff equivalent to a cabinet minister. Additionally, it prohibits the leader from engaging in outside trade, profession, or receiving duplicate salaries, ensuring financial independence and effective opposition functioning.
