Inquiry to be made by Collector

(t) The Collector shall thereupon, ix a date of which the person to whom the land belongs shall receive not less than a month's notice for holding an inquiry and shall Publish a notice for the application and the date fixed for the inquiry in the village or villages concerned. (2) At such Inquiry the Collector shall determine- (a) Whether the proposed improvement is of sufficient importance to justify action under this Act; Section-83,86] M.P. Irrigation Act, 1931 [62 (b) Whether the most suitable situation or alignment for the proposed work necessitates the acquisition of the land; (c) Whether the execution of the work is likely to cause damage to land belonging to other permanent holders, and whether any such land should be acquired; (d) Whether the statements in the application mentioned in section 82 are true; and (e) Generally, whether the application should be granted.
