Bare Act
The Madhya Pradesh Goshala Act, 1953
The Madhya Pradesh Goshala Act, 1953, establishes a legal framework for the registration, supervision, and management of Goshalas—charitable institutions dedicated to the care, breeding, and protection of cattle. The Act mandates that trustees register their institutions, maintain transparent financial accounts, and undergo annual audits. It also regulates the collection of charitable funds by traders for these institutions to prevent financial mismanagement. By creating a Goshala Federation and appointing a Registrar, the law ensures accountability in the management of cattle shelters. For citizens, it guarantees that donations intended for animal welfare are used appropriately, promoting the ethical treatment of livestock across the state.
